Can you do matric in 3 months?

Matric is one of the most important qualifications that anyone can obtain in South Africa. It is the starting point for many students’ futures, opening up paths to improving their lives and achieving their dreams. The importance of a matric certificate leads to many people looking for a fast way to get it in South Africa.

That is why we decided to write this article to take a look at the different ways you can get your matric certificate. We will look at a variety of ways to get your matric certificate, including if you can do matric in 3 months. Allowing you to find the best method for you to get your matric and take the first step to achieve your dreams.

Do matric in 3 months

Unfortunately, no matter how fast you need your matric there is no way to complete the entire matric qualification in just three months. There is too much work to cover to do this as the entire matric programme consists of grades 10-12 which takes 3 years to cover. This is not to mention that the matric exams take place over the course of 25 days.

While it is impossible to complete an entire matric programme in just 3 months there is one way to get your certificate in 3 months.

However, there are certain requirements you must already have completed your matric and have a failed or incomplete matric certificate. You can then apply for rewrites or a supplementary exam. You can apply for these types of exams between January and April and they are written in May or June. Therefore you will have 3-6 months to prepare for the exam, meaning if you time it right you can do matric in 3 months, making this the quickest way to get your matric.

Ways to obtain your matric

While there is no way to do matric in 3 months there are many ways to get your matric certificate in South Africa. This is why we decided to take a look at some of them and what they entail.

Bridging courses

For students who don’t quite meet the minimum requirements to gain admittance to universities or are just short of getting their matric. There is a bridging course which allows students to improve their marks on subjects that they took in their final matric year. These bridging courses usually take a year to complete. They allow students to obtain their matric or university admittance by improving their marks in subjects they may not have done well in.

Amended senior certificate

Adults who didn’t complete their matric during their school year may not be able to do matric in 3 months, but they can get an Amended Senior Certificate. An amended senior certificate is a chance for adults, over the age of 21 when writing their exams, to try and get their matric qualification. They need to have attained at least a grade 9 education level. Additionally, applicants must be able to read and write in either English or Afrikaans. An amended senior certificate course, or adult matric course, can take anything between 1 and 3 years to complete. This time frame depends on how quickly you learn and whether or not you have other obligations from work or family that will take up your time. Elroi Academy does NOT recommend the ASC because it has a very poor success rate.

Online matric

Another great way to get your matric qualification in South Africa is by completing an online matric course. While again this doesn’t allow you to do matric in 3 months. An online matric course can take between 1 and 3 years to complete depending which grades you have already passed. However, an online matric does have a number of benefits when compared to a traditional matric programme. These benefits include the following:

  • Cost-effective: With an online matric course you can save money on transport and other associated costs like buying coffee or lunch. Additionally, many online matric courses provide the required textbooks, and their tuition fees are very competitive. This means online matric courses are one of the most cost-effective ways to get your matric.
  • No classes: There are no classes when doing an online matric course. As online courses are a form of distance learning they provide learning materials through other means like email or websites. Therefore, you will never run late for a class while doing one of these courses.
  • Flexible: Online matric courses also offer students more flexibility in when and where they learn. Because you can study at home or wherever else you like as long as you have access to the course materials. Additionally, as there are no set classes students can choose what time they would like to commit to studying. Allowing them to select a time that is most convenient for their schedule.

Conclusion

These are the many ways that one can get their matric certificate in South Africa. While none of them allows you to do matric in 3 months. It is worth noting that the fastest way to get your matric is to apply yourself diligently to your studies to ensure that you perform to the best of your abilities the first time you write your exams. We wish anyone seeking their matric qualifications the best of luck and hope they make their dreams a reality.
