- Certificate means the formal qualification or part qualification awarded to a successful learner.
- Examination means the conduct of an end-of-term and/or once-off end-of-year examination.

1. Our aim
Elroi Academy aims to pick up the pieces left by the education system, and we therefore endeavour to be accessible, as far as is permitted and possible, to all cultures, races, religions and educational backgrounds. However, Elroi Academy offers the National Senior Certificate, a qualification with entrance and admission requirements to which Elroi Academy must hold. Furthermore, because Elroi Academy is a Christian-values based institution (see Our Values), it reserves the constitutional right of association to refuse admission to an individual who may, with intent, undermine these values.
2. Policy
- No person will be refused admission on grounds of race, culture, religious belief or financial circumstance, within the parameters of Elroi Academy, where the medium of instruction is English and Afrikaans.
- Any learner admitted is admitted to the total programme for which they are enrolled and will not be suspended from access to the content purchased, for reasons other than those mentioned in paragraph 6 of this policy.
3. Closing dates for registration
- Grade 10–11: learners may register at any time during the year for Grade 10–11. However, all school-based assessment tasks must be completed within 3 weeks of the final examination or three months after.
- Grade 12:
- The deadline for the registration of candidates for the National Senior Certificate examination is 15 March of the year in which the examination will be written. For this purpose, enrolment at Elroi Academy closes on 28 February.
- No registrations will be accepted after this date, unless the Head of the assessment body, or his or her representative, approves such late registration based on exceptional circumstances.
- Candidates who write a supplementary examination and who are unsuccessful will be given 15 working days, following the release of the supplementary examination results, to register for the end-of-year examination.
4. Entrance requirements for Grades 10–12
- The minimum entrance requirements for Grade 10 are:
- an official Grade 9 school report which indicates that the learner has met the requirements for promotion to Grade 10, or that the learner was progressed in the Senior Phase in terms of paragraph 31 of the Admission Policy for Ordinary Public Schools (Government Notice 2432, Government Gazette Vol. 400, No. 19377 of 19 October 1998); or
- for learners who received home education, evidence provided by the parent or legal guardian of the learner’s competence in the basic education skills necessary to access the Further Education and Training phase. The parent or legal guardian also accepts responsibility for the learner’s readiness; or
- a General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) for Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET); or
- an NQF Level 1 certificate which requires two languages; or

7. Enrolment and admission procedure

- The online enrolment contains:
- the chosen grade, subjects and services, with the quoted cost;
- learner, parent/guardian and account holder information;
- the required documents: proof of identity and the latest school report or statement of results;
- acceptance of the Enrolment Terms;
- payment of the registration fee (card, or EFT with a proof of payment).
- After payment, the Elroi admissions office reviews the application (admission requirements, school report and payment) and decides on admission. Admitted learners then complete registration, where the agreements are formally accepted, and receive access to the purchased services and programmes.
- Provisional admission: a learner who applies before the final results of the current year are available may be admitted provisionally on the latest school report. The final report must be submitted as soon as it is released; admission is confirmed once it shows that the entrance requirements in paragraph 4 are met.
